The activities I most enjoyed at Irving High included being in Toy Tigers, and going to the 1968 Quarter Finals in Odessa with the football team. Alan Lowry was quarterback then, and to get to the quarter finals he threw a "Hail Mary" type of pass to Dempsie Clinton, in the Cotton Bowl. It was so exciting to go there at the time. Later, we also performed in Houston, at the Astrodome, for halftime of a Denver Broncos/Houston Oilers game. This was also very exciting. It was a long ride over there, on school buses, and I remember that one of my friends in Toy Tigers, Laurie Kee, got sick from the long ride. However, it was enjoyable for most of us. My daughter later became a Toy Tiger, and was in it around 1996 to 2000. She, too, enjoyed it a lot. Also remember enjoying Music in choir with Mr. James Moore. He was a wonderful teacher, and we sang some great songs, like "To Dream The Impossible Dream" and some powerful old spirituals. The last I heard of him, he was music director at First Baptist in Carrollton, until recently he has been disabled with Alzheimer's. We are praying for him. God will heal people with Alzheimer's if they have access to Natural or Functional Medicine. I am a 21 year cancer survivor, and believe I have been healed, through God, with Alternative Medicine, and have recently been winning a battle with Degeneration of my Eyes through natural medicine. I had a macular hole, following a laser procedure, and for the first time in 3-1/2 years, on a diagnostic scan, my ophthalmologist tells me that my macular hole is healing! God is good!

Mrs. Lucille Casey, Toy Tiger sponsor, was really something. She was so good with the Toy Tigers. I remember she wanted all of us to look symmetrical, on the field, and had us cut our hair to be the same length. Mine was below my waist, and it was a big deal to go over to my best friend's house and have her cut it for me. I remember I cried...My husband, Charles Perdue, had her in Social Science, and remembers that she was ambidextrous, and could write her name from the center, going left and right, using both hands. Wonder whatever happened to her?

Mrs. Bernadine DeHaro, History Teacher, was really something. She truly made me love history...something I had not done in junior high. She had interesting perspectives on things and would tease us sometime, if she knew our "extracurricular" activities outside of class. Wonder whatever happened to her?
